Acute toxicity: short-term toxicity usually after a single dose of a chemical. This is usually measured during the observation period of 24 hours or sometimes up to 2 weeks, but in the case of PCBs and PCDD/Fs it must be observed for 4 or 6 weeks (see PCB - acute toxicity, PCDD/F - acute toxicity).[1]
