CYP-enzymes

CYP enzymes: a large group of enzymes metabolising drugs and foreign compounds (xenobiotics). AH receptor activated by dioxins initiates the expression of many CYP enzymes, i.e. it causes enzyme induction. This is in essence an adaptive and beneficial response, although in some cases it may lead to synthesis of carcinogenic intermediates (see metabolism)[1]
