Scope

Purpose

The purpose is to evaluate greenhouse gas emissions, which are caused from heating in Helsinki Metropolitan Area and the influence on health. Then, Based on these evaluations, purpose is determine the most effective heating solution for the area by environmentally and costs.

Emission trading and structural changes, like migration to the area and expanding district heating, will be taken into account when determing the best soluting for heating.

Boundaries

  • Helsinki Metropolitan Area (Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa, Kauniainen).
  • Emissions: CO2, PM2.5.
  • Heating methods:
    • District heating, All < 50 MW plants.
    • Single-Family house heating methods.
  • Fuels: All (H/L oil, Pellet, Chip, Gas, Coal).
