What is the prevalence and incidence of narcolepsy (ICD-10 G47.4) in Finland?

Literature[1]
- In general the prevalence of narcolepsy is bout 0.05% in the world population.
- In Finland it is slightly smaller at 0.026%.
- Narcolepsy is "very rare" in subjects younger than 10 years old.
- General incidence is about 1.4*10-5a-1.
- In about 10% of cases evidence of affected relatives exists.
- In twin studies the environment has been shown to have a very large impact.
- Symptoms "seem to" peak at ages 15 and 36.
- Suspected triggers: infections, allergic reactions, inflammatory diseases, other autoimmunity diseases, brain damage, thyroid disorders, psychological trauma
